School Board

Independent Public School communities take a greater leadership role in all aspects of education, with the ultimate goal of delivering high quality education to students.  We achieved Independent Public School (IPS) status in 2017.  Each IPS school has a board consisting of parent, community and staff representatives led by chairperson elected by the board members.  Our current Board Chair is Kelly Howard.  You can contact Kelly via

The school, in collaboration with the board, establishes a vision for the school that reflects the aspirations and needs of the community. The board  has an important influence on the direction of the school, with members bringing ideas and lending their expertise to strategic planning and community partnerships.

Opportunities to serve on the School Board are advertised in our Newsletter.  Attracting people with a range of experiences and expertise enhances the board’s ability to make significant contribution to the development of the school. Board members are provided with support and training on how to perform their role.
