Sport Programme

Students at Denmark Primary begin their sports journey with a focus on Fundamental Movement Skills based on the evidence-based University of WA KIDDO program.

Students have opportunities throughout the year to participate in:

  • Eagles Cup Football – an interschool competition where our players enjoy the experience of representing our school and developing the camaraderie with their team mates that shared experiences can bring.
  • Dockers Cup – our year 5 and 6 girls proudly represent the school at this girl’s football competition against teams from all over the South Coast region. For many of the girls it was the first time they had played a game of Aussie Rules – an experience they thoroughly enjoy.
  • Year 4-6 Faction Swimming Carnival – all of our swimmers put into practice at least two of our four Whole School Expectations – “Be Resilient” and “Be Your Best”. The encouragement of each other, regardless of faction and the support from parents and family members is always highly commendable.
  • Interschool Swimming – our school competes against other primary schools from Albany and Mount Barker.
  • Year 5/6 Multisport Carnival – our year 5 and 6 students have numerous teams in this event. Students participate in basketball, hockey and cricket teams against school teams from around the region
  • Interschool Cross Country – our school competes against other primary schools from Albany and Mount Barker.
  • Interschool Athletics – our school competes against other primary schools from Albany and Mount Barker.
  • Netball WA Great Southern Primary School Cup – we have several girls teams, and a boys team participate each year in this carnival in Katanning with great success.
  • Kindy / Pre-primary Athletics Fun Morning – our kindy and pre-primary students participate in a series of fun tabloid activities with lots of staff and parent support and encouragement.
